Vivarium, situated in the University of Waterloo, is a modest abode with a restricted interior space of 10 m². it features the use of multifunctional furniture, an outdoor workspace and a discreet entrance for privacy. The retreat incorporates sustainable materials such as wood and synthetic shingles, a careful decision in designing an environmentally-conscious structure that mirrors the surrounding landscape. The location also offers continuous soft natural lighting, shading, and a delightful lakeside view.

Vivarium is constructed with a light wood framing consisting of 2x4 studs to maximize the interior space, and a prefabricated mono truss roofing system for affordability and durability.
